Family Planning and Sexual Health

We are proud to be able to offer a full range of contraceptive services at both our main sites.  Our nurses can do Pill / patch checks and administer the contraceptive injection.  All our GPs and ANPs can give general advice and several of our GPs are trained to fit and remove Longer Acting contraceptives, ie implants and intrauterine devices or “coils”.

If you think you may need emergency contraception please contact the surgery as soon as possible and ask for an appointment with the doctor on-call.  Emergency contraception is far more likely to be effective if accessed early.

If you have a general query regarding contraception please contact reception who will be able to triage your request to the most appropriate team member.

Contraception – Sexwise may be helpful if you are unsure what the most appropriate contraceptive method is for you.

Termination of an unwanted pregnancy is available locally through Marie Stopes International (https://www.mariestopes.org.uk/), the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (https://www.bpas.org/contact-us/find-a-clinic/) or via the Lilac Clinic at Bradford Royal Infirmary – telephone 01274 383341.  All of these clinics offer a self-referral service for NHS patients, however if you would like to discuss your situation and options with a GP please book an appointment.
