About Us
Who we are
We are a group of patient volunteers who hope to promote co-operation between the Practice and Patients to the mutual benefit of all, to assist the Practice in communicating policies to the Patients and equally communicating the Patients views to the Practice.
What we do
We run the PPG meetings every two months with guest speakers including one of the practice doctors. At these meetings we share practice news with refreshments served afterwards. Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday during February, April, June, August, October and December at 1pm in the Emerald Suite of Windhill Green surgery.
All are welcome to join us.

How we’ve grown
Believe it or not your Patient Participation Group (PPG) was founded in 1985 spearheaded by the late Dr. Frank Tomlinson and we still have some of those original members in our group today .
The Windhill Green Practice held meetings every 2 months. These meetings were informal affairs with usually a guest speaker, news from the Practice and a talk from one of our GP’s or Nurses. In addition to the above our colleagues at Saltaire organized Health Education meetings at either the Saltaire or Cottingley Practice.
Then in 2013 a group of members approached the Practice to expand the role of the PPG and from that meeting a Steering Group comprising 10 patients, who volunteer their time, to meet with the Senior Practice Partner and the Practice Manager on a regular basis with the aim to promote co-operation between the Practice and the patients to the mutual benefit of all and to ensure patient’s views are represented.
They also assist the Practice in communicating policies to the patients and equally communicating the patients views to the Practice.
They help the Practice with Patient Surveys and with collating that information so that action plans can be drawn up.
They also helped out at the ‘flu clinics’, pre-Covid, by providing refreshments at Windhill Green.
The Steering Group represent the Practice’s PPG at various meetings with the Clinical Commissioning Group and other local health organizations as well as interacting with other local Surgery’s PPGs.
Following the successful merger between Saltaire and Windhill Green Practices the two PPG Groups also merged and today we have a Steering Group to represent all 4 Surgeries in the Partnership.
