Why get a flu vaccination this year?

Flu jab poster: Get the jab - get flu safeEvery year in early autumn it is time for the National Influenza Vaccination campaign, or “Flu Jab season”. Our Practice Nurses give advice on who is at risk and who should consider having a jab. For more explanation about who is at risk and why you should consider the vaccination visit the NHS website. It is important to get the jab not just for your own health, but for the protection of the vulnerable and people managing chronic illnesses around you.

This year with COVID it is even more important that we vaccinate as many at risk patients as we can, and the government is hoping to also vaccinate 50-64 year olds if stock allows later in Autumn once the initial campaign is completed.

Planning your appointment

  • All flu appointments are pre-bookable.  There is no drop-in service due to COVID restrictions.
  • The first group that we are vaccinating are patients aged 65 and over and those with underlying health conditions.
  • If you have given consent for a text message and you are eligible for a flu vaccination you will be contacted week commencing 14th September.
  • There will be a lot of demand on our telephone lines.  Please be patient.  Avoid phoning early morning.
