Prescriptions

A prescription is written authorisation from a prescribing clinician for you to receive certain medications.  You will be given a prescription if you see a clinician who thinks you would benefit from medication.  You may need to take medication regularly, in which case you will receive a repeat prescription which can be ordered regularly without the need to be seen by a prescribing clinician.

Most prescriptions are now sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy.  This means you don’t need to take anything with you to the pharmacy to collect your prescription.

How to Order a Repeat Prescription

You can order your repeat prescription either by passing a written request to the practice, or by using our online services.  A repeat prescription will be made ready within 72 hours of you sending us your order.  Most of the time your prescription will be sent straight to your pharmacy as soon as it is ready.
