The Dementia Journey – 2 carer’s perspectives

Alan Camplin, Chair of the PPG, welcomed everyone to the meeting.  There were with 34 attendees, 18 from Windhill Green,   5 from Saltaire, 1 from Baildon, 2 from Cottingley and 2 from Idle practices  plus 1 from the Practice and 5 in the presentation party.

Alan introduced  Peter Ruickbie, a volunteer from the Alzheimer’s Society, who gave an introductory talk on Alzheimer’s and Dementia and introduced Richard Hookes alongside his wife and son, and Pawel Bingel also alongsiide his wife. Richard and Pawel each told of their discovery or their wives diagnosis and the whole presentation from all three proved very informative and extremely interesting. The closest local support group is The Memory Tree who meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday, of the month at 11.00am – 12.45pm  at The Lounge at St. Peter’s Church, Moorhead Lane, Shipley. There is also a Support Group at Wrose who meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 1.30pm – 3.30pm at St Cuthbert’s Church, Wrose Road.

As always, tea and Coffee followed with time for a good chat.
